Our Faith Formation program is free and open to all, even if you are visiting for the first time. On Sunday mornings, students and teachers join their faith family for the first 15 minutes of worship and then move to classrooms for Faith Formation. We have a basic registration form that can be filled out before or after class. Please see a Faith Formation Teacher, Deacon or Pastor Peggy for a form or with any questions you may have. Come and check us out!
Our Faith Formation classes (our name for Sunday School) combine fun activities with Scripture and life lessons. Classes are separated by age with multiple teachers in each class to ensure a safe and well-supervised environment. Children under 3 years always have fun playing in our nursery, which is open to families during worship. Our Safe Child Manual sets the policies and procedures we use to keep all children safe. All volunteers who work with our children and youth go through a screening and training process.
Our younger kids meet every week for class arranged by grade: nursery, pre-k-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, and 4th-5th grade. Our 6th-12th graders meet on the second and fourth Sundays of each month for class, while attending worship the other weeks. Our current classroom curriculum is Whirl Lectionary for Pre K-5th grade and Re:Form Ancestors for Jr. & Sr. High. Both curriculums come from Sparkhouse you can learn more about them here.
On the first Sunday of each month all children and youth gather for Faith Formation together. This time is entitled GIFT: Growing In Faith Together. GIFT is led by Pastor Peggy in the Chapel using the curriculum of Godly Play®. The goal of Godly Play® is to teach children and adults the art of using religious language and to help them become fully aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives. You can learn more about Godly Play® here.
The Faith Formation year kicks off in September with Rally Day and ends in June with Bible Jeopardy and our All-Church Picnic.
